I am thrilled to have Kelsi here today to share her family’s favourite Christmas books. I LOVE reading to my kids, but am a little picky about children’s books…they have to be enjoyable for me to read to my kids all well as engaging for them (so goodbye any book about Caillou!) Kelsi has picked an amazing list of books for you to enjoy with your littles this Christmas that I hope you’ll enjoy and make some special memories cuddling up with a good book with your kids this Christmas!
Hi there, I'm Kelsi and I'm excited to be guest posting on Emily's blog! I live in Washington state with my husband and 3 daughters McKinlee (5), Adalyn (3), and Eden (1). Life is busy with 2 toddlers at home and 1 in Kindergarten, but I enjoy getting to teach and play with them every day. Something that all of my girls love is reading. They love one on one reading time and looking at books during quiet time. Now that it's the Christmas season I have gone through all of our old favorites and found a few new ones this year that I'm excited to share with you.
My girls all LOVE books. Eden is my youngest and she would read books all day. She knows a little bit of sign language and every time we finish a book she likes to sign "again, again!" A few books that keep her and my 3 year old, Addie, entertained at their ages are:
This year we found some new ones that my oldest loves. Some of them are:
We don't own a lot of seasonal books yet, but we do visit the library frequently. It took me a while to learn this little tip- If you want to actually get the Christmas books you want in December, you need to put them on hold in mid November. Libraries will hold the books for you for a week(ish) and then our library checks them out to us for 3 weeks. If no one else puts it on hold, we are also able to renew the books if needed. Around Thanksgiving time, they pull all the Christmas books off their regular shelves and put them in a special area in the library for everyone to have easy access. By this point the old favorites are usually snatched up quick, so go check them out now!
If you love giving books as gifts, I like to check out Marshalls or Ross. They have some really cute inexpensive ones that are not always well known. Amazon is great if you know exactly what you're looking for, and Target occasionally has sales on their books.
Hope this little list helps get you and your littles in the Christmas spirit! You can see more from us on instagram: @kelsistrong_
Thanks so much for sharing Kelsi! Those tips about getting christmas books from the library are gold! I am never on the ball enough to get the seasonal books in time, so doing this next time for sure :) Do you have any Christmas favourites that your kids just love to pull out when the holidays roll around? Leave them below in the comments so we can all enjoy them too!
